History of Uzbekpaksanoat Association

Uzbekpaksanoat was established in 2017 by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The organization does not belong to any state ministry, but reports directly to the Office of the President of Uzbekistan. The chairman of Ipaksanoat is appointed directly by the President of Uzbekistan.

It is the main organization in the country, representing all sectors of the silk industry in Uzbekistan. Its members include about 60 silk processing enterprises, ranging from traditional handicrafts to fully integrated modern processing enterprises. The association supports the development of the silk industry and handicrafts in every region of the country. One of its main goals is to increase silk production through a clustering strategy along the silk value chain. The association coordinates the effective organization of the work process to accelerate the development of the silk industry, improve the fodder base, import silkworm seeds, increase production and improve the quality of finished silk products.

The association, along with leading cluster companies, is helping to establish mulberry plantations and silkworm rearing to grow cocoons as a necessary raw material for growing silk. The association supports member companies in attracting foreign direct investment and promotes the sale of silk products through trade fairs, participation in international exhibitions and other forms of assistance.

The association also manages the Silk Research Institute in Tashkent, the oldest and leading research institution in Central Asia. Its technical staff conducts regular training in all aspects of mulberry growing and silkworm rearing for the staff of the Association's regional offices and its member companies.

Uzbekipaksanoat is headquartered in Bangalore, India. International Silk Commission ISC and a regional silk organization of the Black, Caspian and Central Asian Silk Association and based in Vratsa, Bulgaria. BACSA Headquarters is a member.
